Kentstone Farm
Kentstone Farm lies about one mile east of Lowick. In August 2019 a group of volunteers from the Lowick Heritage Group Archaeology Section, under the guidance of professional archaeologist Roger Miket and staff from Manchester Metropolitan University undertook a geophysical and magnetic resonance survey of an area of farmland. An aerial view taken by Google Earth suggested the presence a multivallate earthwork structure and this was reinforced by the amazing geophysical survey image shown below. Roger Miket also believes there to be Anglo Saxon structures too. Excavations took place in autumn 2022 with exciting results confirming the presence of Bronze Age, Iron Age and Anglo Saxon activity.
